Fall is here and the weather is still very hot and humid. That is not stopping the art world from holding classes and exhibiting new works of art. My Workshop, “Watercolor over Pen and Ink with Evy Okerstrom”, which was held Monday, September 10th was a success. Four talented ladies attended. I opened with some history of the pen and ink medium, and an introduction to watercolor. I showed them some simple watercolor washes, and examples of pen and ink. 
Then we worked on two projects with a third one optional. Everyone did a great job; here are some pictures I took of everyone working on their paintings. It was so much fun; I think we could have painted past the 4 o’clock hour. Now, I am looking forward to having a 2nd workshop on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10 to 4. If you missed the September one, you are welcome to attend this one. If someone wants to attend, that was in the last class that is fine. You can work on the projects we handed out or work on a new one. I will have a table set up for that like I did last time. First Saturday on Canal Street: Saturday October 6, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm…I am going to be at the Hub on Canal, 132 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168…phone: 386-957-3924. I will be working on painting a series of small 5” x 5” pictures, using watercolor and pen and ink techniques. These pictures will be offered at the Holiday Gift Table at the Hub next month. Save the Dates: Exhibits: “Things that Live & Breathe” will be in the Founders Gallery at the Hub on Canal, for the month of December 2018. This will be a juried show with awards. I am on the committee organizing this event. “Evy Okerstrom, Solo Exhibit, “will be held at Nature in Beauty Spa, 426 Canal Street, NSB, for the month of January 2019. I will have more details next month.
Calendar Update: In my 2018 calendar, the picture for October is: “Fall Hydrangeas”. This is a blue Hydrangea that was in my Mother’s garden. You can see the early morning fog in the background. The new 2019 Calendar is almost ready to go to press. I will probably have them sometime this month.
