November is here, and makes me think of traditions we have like Thanksgiving dinners, with family and friends getting together. The season reminds me of fresh apples which I love. One tradition I like to follow is to make applesauce like my Grannie Peep used to make. It is very simple: peel the apples and boil them with a little water, when done mash them (I like them a little chunky) and add a little cinnamon, nutmeg, and some butter. Refrigerate it, and it is a great snack or dessert.
My workshop, “Watercolor over Pen and Ink”, which was on Saturday October 20th, held at the Hub was very successful, and I had (7) talented ladies attending. See the attached photos. Again, everyone had a good time, and went home with a least one finished painting. I am going to have one more class this year, to be held on Monday, November 12, 2018. The time is 10 to 4, and the fee is $70 with an optional $30 supply fee paid directly to me. Note: I will have one more workshop in this series, Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Hub. Please check the Hub on Canal’s website for more on this. You can sign up on line, by phone or in person. I have printed up handouts and have them in the rack on my display wall at the Hub. The Fee is $70 plus an optional $30 supply fee paid directly to me. Questions? Contact me at ero814@yahoo.com.

Calendar Update: In my 2018 calendar, the picture for November is: “Pears and Clementine’s”. Here is a still life I did with drawing pears and small oranges known as Clementine’s. The new 2019 Calendar is now for sale at the Hub on Canal and on this website.
Note Cards and Other Things: If you are looking for some ideas for small holiday gifts, please consider some of my cards and the new 2019 Evy Okerstrom Calendar, a 13 month calendar. I will have some holiday themed cards available too that are good to use for gift enclosures or as Christmas or Chanukah cards. Contact me if you need large amounts for special pricing: also, for arranging local pickups or mailings.
Thank you and here is my thought for today: What is rhythm in art? A composition made up of a combination of elements repeated, but different in each presentation. Think of the waves at the beach. Each time they break on the beach, but in a different pattern.
