“My Sunflower Garden” available for purchase at the Hub during the month of August. Purchase Card for $4
July turned out to be a busy month and was highlighted by a visit to Blue Hill, Maine to visit my Aunt Lennie. I took a lot of photographs for reference, and in the next few months will have some paintings to share. It also gave me some time to think about my workshops that will be held September 9th and October 19th. This leads me to my topic last month about the 3 pillars of sustainability: people, planet and profits. This month it is about the “people pillar”. A sustainable art business should have the support and approval of the community it operates in. A few ways to succeed in this could be: first recognize ways to give back, think of mentoring aspiring artists, and use local businesses to buy services. In my case, I have donated some of my cards to my church to use when giving alter flowers to shut ins. Mentoring: I enjoy holding workshops and helping students find joy in painting. Last, I try to use local businesses for my printing and framing needs. Now, as you ponder this, I have other news

First Saturday at the Hub, August 3rd: I may not be at The Hub on Canal, from 10 am to 2 pm. My family will be in town for my Grandson, Ian’s Graduation from the University of North Florida. However, I am going to have some new pictures up on my display wall and some new cards. I hope you will stop by.
Coming Soon: “A Workshop with Evy Okerstrom: Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Hub on Canal. Time: 10 am to 4 pm. This is a great introduction to pen and ink and watercolor if you are new to it or just getting back into it. You will be given drawings to paint or you can bring your own reference photo. The cost is $70 for the session and if you need supplies, I can provide them for a $30 fee. You can register at the Hub or the website online. Email me at ero814@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
“Surfs Up”: The Artists’ Workshop Gallery summer show continues through the end of August. This show has an ocean theme… anything related to the ocean, waves, swimmers, sea life, shells, etc. I have one of my blue watercolor paintings from the series done at Canaveral National Seashore, in the exhibit. The gallery, located at 115 Canal Street, NSB, is now open from 10 am to 4 pm, Wednesday through Friday. (Summer hours) The Admission is free.
