Hello to everyone. September was very busy. Kids returning to school and various classes starting up made me feel like we were getting back into a somewhat familiar routine. So, even with the virus still with us, I am amazed at all the community has accomplished so far this year working around the various obstacles we have had to overcome. I have had the bravest group of ladies to work with in teaching a class on sketching with watercolor, pen & ink. We are still meeting weekly and no one has gotten sick. We wear masks! So, now I have some good news! Available now on my website and the Hub: Evy Okerstrom, Calendar for 2021. Now, here is my schedule for the month:

First Saturday, October 3rd. The Hub on Canal at 132 Canal Street: I plan on being there from 10 am to early afternoon. I have a new exhibit on my wall and the pictures are based on scenes from the local beaches. The Hub is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm except Sunday, 10 am to 2 pm.
The Artists’ Workshop Gallery at 115 Canal Street, October 3rd, presents a new Exhibit, “Painting thru the Pandemic”. Reception: 4 pm to 7 pm. I will have a painting in this show, and will be a hostess for a day during the exhibit. It will be open until Friday, November 20th. Hours for this show: Wed., Thurs., Fri., 12 pm to 3 pm
Hub Special Exhibit for December 2020: First Saturday December, 5th, The Hub on Canal, will be hosting an exhibit by the Florida Women’s Art Association (FLWAA) The group is comprised of women artists at various stages of their careers who join together to encourage the growth and progression of their shared artistic endeavors. They have exhibited at the Peabody’s Rose Room, and The Casements, to name a few places. I will have more details in my November Blog.

Continuing class: At the Hub on Canal, Sketching in Watercolor with Evy Okerstrom: A new 4 week series began Thursday, September 17, 2020. The objective of this class is to keep a journal of your everyday experiences by recording them in a sketchbook or on a piece of paper. Currently we are doing some exercises from Gordon Mackenzie’s book: “The Complete Watercolorist’s Essential Notebook”. At this time I am still limited to 8 members (due to the Covid19 social distancing), and my class is full now. The current class ends October 8thth.
