Welcome to my very first Blog. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and having time to enjoy the warm days. Did you know that July is World Watercolor Month? I am getting a lot of promotions from my art suppliers about this. Here is what is going on in my art world….July is really turning out to be a busy one for me. I have watercolor paintings in the two exhibits that will be held at the Hub and the Artists’ Workshop. I hope you can stop by even if you cannot make the receptions. Save The Date: Saturday July 7, 2018 from 1 to 2 pm…I am giving a Talk Art at the Hub on Canal, 132 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168…phone: 386-957-3924. The title of my presentation is: “Resist and Watercolor”. I have been doing a series of watercolor paintings of water birds and using a resist or masking fluid to create a landscape of rocks behind the birds. The plan is to show a few examples of how this works and then do a short demonstration.
“Summertime Blues”: Saturday July 7, 2018, 2nd Annual Members Exhibit at the Hub on Canal, Opening Reception from 4 to 7 pm. Join me at this fun event at the Hub. Forty-Five Hub Members and Artists have interpreted what they would do on a “Summertime Blues” day. This event is free and there will be wine, beer and appetizers. All artwork is for sale. This exhibit will be up for almost a month, closing Sunday July 29, 2018.
“In the Good Old Summertime”: Saturday July 7, 2018, the Artists’ Workshop Gallery on 115 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL ….phone: 386-402-0314, will have an Opening Reception from 4 to 7 pm. Another free event, this is for their summer art show at the gallery. Most of the artwork will be for sale. It will be up July and August. The gallery has summer hours: Open Wednesday and Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm, and on Friday from 11 am to 2 pm.
Early Morning Bike Ride: If you bought one of my 2018 calendars, this is the entry for July. It features two young people…a boy and a girl biking on the NSB beach off of Atlantic Avenue….It is a watercolor that I also used as a card. I am working on a new 2019, thirteen month calendar and hope to have it ready by the end of August. I will update you next month on that project.
Workshop at the Hub: I have been working with the Hub to offer a Watercolor Workshop. I have had a number of people asking if there might be one. After careful consideration, I have come up with an offering. It will be titled: “Watercolor over Pen and Ink”. The information is going to be on the Hub website. If you are interested in more details, let me know. Current dates for 2018 are: September 10, October 20th, November 12th and 2019: February 18th.
