Thank you for your overwhelming support for my first blog. It was great to hear from so many friends that I had not heard from in a long time. It was exciting to share my website with you. I have to give credit to my Kentucky friends: Webmaster, Danny Crum and Designer, Julie McEwen. This website and blog could not have happened without their knowledge and guidance. Now, here is my art news for
August: My Workshop is now officially listed on the Hub on Canal’s website. The first class will be Monday September 10, 2018. It is called: “Watercolor over Pen and Ink”. Watercolor painting has a reputation as a fussy medium that often produces muddled results. I will offer a basic introduction to watercolor techniques so you can be comfortable with painting a picture. I have pictures for you to
work on and a supply list too. So, it should be fun! I have had a very positive response to the class, and am very excited about it. If you have questions, contact me at: ero814@Yahoo.com.
Save The Date: Saturday August 4, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm…I am going to be at the Hub on Canal,
132 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168…phone: 386-957-3924. This is First Saturday in New
Smyrna Beach and is a great time to visit The Hub and get in a cool place. I will be in the Lobby doing a
watercolor painting demonstration. I will also have my note cards for sale from other watercolor
pictures that I have done. I hope to see you there.
“In the Good Old Summertime”: The Artists’ Workshop Gallery on 115 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach,
FL ….phone: 386-402-0314, this exhibit will continue thru August 30, 2018. It is a free. This is the
Summer Art Show at the gallery. This is an amazing show. In addition to two dimensional works there
are some works done in clay. Most of the artwork is for sale. The gallery has summer hours: Open
Wednesday and Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm, and on Friday from 11 am to 2 pm. I will be minding the
gallery on Wednesday August 29 th . If you can stop by , it would be great to see you.
Calendar Update: In my 2018 calendar, the picture for August is the beach scene, “A study in Blue”. This
idea came from a visit to Bethune Beach in NSB. These two ladies introduced themselves to me. They
were old friends and they were spending the day at the beach. I did this picture twice. This one in blue
was done first: just to get the values right before I did it in color. I have now submitted all the pictures
for my 2019 calendar. I hope that I will have them ready for sale by the end of this month or early
September.
Note Cards: For the past few years, I have been making note cards from my paintings. The cards with
envelopes are currently available for sale at the Hub on Canal. I am now going to make them available
on my website. They make great thank you notes, birthday cards and just keep in touch cards. I will
offer them in packs of 3 or more. Watch for this feature soon.
