Welcome back! The holiday season is here, and I can feel it and see it happening! The Hub on Canal has already had a Members Only Preview Party for their Holiday Gift Gallery. I put a few of my small 5” x 5” pictures in the Gallery. They are pen and ink drawings with a watercolor wash. Some have already sold, so that is great. The Gallery will be open until December 29th. For my display wall at the Hub, I put up all the pictures I had painted for Christmas cards. I have a new one for 2019, and it is called “Cardinal”. All holiday cards are on the wall too, including my 2020 Calendars.
Last December I mentioned that I like to take this time to review how the year went, and make plans for the New Year 2020. First of all, I want to thank everyone who supported me by buying cards, calendars and taking my Workshops. I really appreciate your support and it was a great opportunity to meet many new people. I have been adding them to my monthly blog list, and I have almost 150 people receiving this blog each month. Please keep in touch, I wish everyone a Happy Holiday and best wishes for the New Year.
Here is what I have scheduled so far for 2020: Saturday, January 11, I will be speaking at “Talk Art” at the Hub. My presentation will be the “Color of Watercolor”. If you attended my “Basic Watercolor” Workshop in October, you heard about the various properties of the paints, transparency and color combinations. This is part of the planning process for your painting. Following that, on Saturday, February 15th, I will have another “Pen and Ink with Watercolor” workshop. It will be at the Hub from 10 am to 4 pm. Then, Monday, March 30, I will do another “Basic Watercolor” Workshop from 10 am to 4 pm. Signup sheets will be available at the Hub and online. I am open to anyone wanting to schedule additional classes, so let me know if there is an interest.
Time Out: Last September I was lucky to go to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and spend some time in the art galleries and just absorbing the culture. I am hopeful that I will be able to do that again in September. May 2020 is going to be busy too with two graduations to attend; Also, a trip to Maine in July.

Thank you and here is my thought for today: “The Native Americans have an expression I like,” says New Mexico-based artist, Tom Perkinson. “Keep the top of your head open” It’s an invitation to be alive to experience every moment, and to be open to new possibilities and novel solutions.
