“The Temeles Garden”, by Evy Okerstrom,
Watercolor with pen and ink. 9″x12″ unframed.

In July, the Hub on Canal invited me to be a featured artist on their Instagram page (@TheHubonCanal). This new program highlights one Hub Artist and their work each week. It was exciting to be the first one!

“French Village”,  Urban Sketching exercise:
Pen & Ink with Watercolor wash.

Exciting news! I will be teaching Urban Sketching at the Hub on Thursdays from September 19th to November 14th, from 1 pm to 4 pm. This will be an ongoing class. We will use the book “Urban Watercolor” by Phil Dean. I will provide a supply list and have 8 new books available for $16 each. No prior experience is needed–just come to have fun and sketch what you see around you.

From “Urban Watercolor”, Phil Dean talks about his book. “For me personally, the very idea of urban drawing was the direct opposite of watercolor. I had no conception of how watercolor could represent faithfully the subject matter I loved so much. I could not have been more wrong. I found that these techniques really worked for me as an urban artist. I set out to create a book aimed at people who want to explore the medium of watercolor without being encumbered with technical baggage or an art education”

I will also continue teaching watercolor, pen and ink classes at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesdays from 1 pm to 4 pm. We are focusing on basic watercolor techniques and painting botanical scenes. This is also an ongoing class.
