June Art News from Evy Okerstrom
“Tower Hill Garden” available for
purchase at the Hub or online!
Claude Monet said: “My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece” Just as a museum is a place to see works of art; a botanical garden is much the same. I was very fortunate to visit Tower Hill Botanic Garden in late March. Tower Hill in Boylston, MA is located north of Worcester, MA. It is a 171 acre botanic garden and arboretum. I spent an afternoon there and took a number of reference photographs. These were the basis of a new series of pen & ink watercolor paintings. It was fun drawing them, and coloring them in with watercolor. I did have cards made up, and this month they are available only on my website. The framed paintings are now on display at the Hub on Canal for the month of June. Now, I have some other news, and dates to remember….including my fall and spring workshops.
First Saturday, June 1st: I will be at The Hub on Canal, from 10 am to 2 pm. I plan on having a table set up in the Lobby. I will do some drawing and watercolor painting. I spent one day at Dunes Park Beach, and did a lot of quick sketches. I think I will try to put those into some pen and ink drawings. Hope to see you there.

Here is my thought for today: “The castle grounds were gleaming in the sunlight as though freshly painted; the
cloudless sky smiled at itself in the smoothly sparkling lake, the satin-green lawns rippled occasionally in a gentle breeze:
June had arrived.” ….JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
