It is hard to believe the summer is just about over. The weather here is still hot, but I can feel the change of seasons coming. I have been busy preparing for my first workshop which will be Monday, September 10, 2018 from 10 to 4. If you cannot attend this one, I have scheduled workshops for October 20th, and November 12th. The advertising for “A Workshop with Evy Okerstrom” is on The Hub on Canal’s website, and I have printed up handouts with the details of the class. They are in the rack on my display wall at the Hub. The class is an introduction to painting with watercolor. I am going to have several drawings ready to be painted and embellished with pen. If you want to use your own picture, you can bring it and I will show you how to draw it and put it on watercolor paper. I have (3) people signed up already and have had several more that are interested. I have put a limit of (8) for the class. Some of the students may not have all the items needed for the class, so I have a supply list if you are interested. If you have questions, please contact me at: ero814@yahoo.com. Save The Date: Saturday September 1, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm…I am going to be at the Hub on Canal, 132 Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168…phone: 386-957-3924. This is First Saturday in New Smyrna Beach and is a great time to visit The Hub. Artists change their display each month so it is always good to check out what is new there. If you sign up with your email address at the reception desk, you can be on the list to receive “Hub Happenings” each week. “Dr. Elizabeth Daquila”: The Artists’ Workshop of NSBeach was looking for new community spaces to hang member’s artwork. My personal physician, Dr. Elizabeth Daquila, offered the use of her new office as a gallery for our art. On August 3, 2018, we hung our first exhibit of 16 pictures. They will be on view until December 4, 2018. The office is located at 851 Dunlawton Ave., Ste. 102, Port Orange, FL 32127. Office Phone: 386-236-9328, and the hours are 8 to 5 Monday through Thursday. Call for an appointment.
Calendar Update: In my 2018 calendar, the picture for September is: “Sunflower Pair”, painted from a photograph. I love sunflowers and the various yellow and oranges of the petals that go in every direction. The new 2019 Calendar is still in process. All pictures and background colors/designs have been chosen. I hope that I will have them ready for sale by the middle of September. If they are ready before October, I will send out a notice to you before my next Art News.
Note Cards: Starting this month, I am going to offer my cards for sale on my website. The cards (5 ½” x 4 ¼”) with envelopes are currently only available for sale at the Hub on Canal. I will have (3) new ones each month. They are now $5 each, or (3) for $12 with free postage and handling. (6.5% FL Sales Tax is still applicable) Please contact me if you would like to order more, for pricing options. They make great Birthday and Thank You cards. You can purchase them online or arrange to pick them up locally.
